Fishing knots
There are some fishermen who swear by the fishing knots they use. Still,
there are others who do not seem to care which kind of knot is used.
Where you stand on this issue is up to you, but if you do not know of
all of the knots, you should learn them and see if they can be of any
use to you.
Here are some fishing knot examples:
• Uni-knot - This knot is one of the best knots for withstanding
sudden jerks. It is typically very strong and can be used in a number
of applications, even though it is most commonly used for tying fishing
line to terminal tackle.
• Clove hitch - This knot is a quick and easy way of being able
to tie a line temporarily to either a piling or post. It will usually
not bind and unless the pole turns, it also will not unroll after being
pulled tight. It can be worked loose by repeatedly working the tag line
back and forth and by varying the angle at which you are working on
it.
• Alpine butterfly - This knot is one way of being able to put
a loop right in the middle of your rope, while still allowing the rope
to be straight. This knot is one of the easier ones to untie or adjust.
Still, it is possible that it could jam on you.
• Clinch knot - This is the knot that is used by most fishermen
today. It is a very reliable knot that does not come loose easily. These
are nice because they are tied to be strong without any slippage at
all.
The fishing knots you choose to use should be those that you are confident
in tying and are confident that they will hold up well while on the
water.
